Backpack trip to LaBarge Spring - 2/7/2026 - 2/8/2026
Over the weekend I backpacked to LaBarge Spring in the Superstitions with a group of friends from the Arizona Backpackers Club. We started at the Peralta Trailhead around 8am, and then took Buff Spring Trail, to Dutchman Trail #104, to LaBarge Spring and Creek where we camped overnight. The hike started off with cloud cover, and a cool breeze. We made it to the campsite before it got too warm, and setup our tents under the shade of the trees near LaBarge Creek. After setting up camp we walked about half a mile up to LaBarge Spring, and spent some time in the water.
The next morning we took the Red Tanks Trail #107, to Whiskey Spring Trail #238, Dutchman Trail #104, and finally back to the Peralta Trailhead. We got a little of a late start, and it warmed up really fast. It was in the mid 80s by the time we made it back to the trailhead. There was very little shade on Sunday.
We hiked a total of 17 miles with about 2500 of elevation gain.
