CDT - Day 103 - Dubois

I woke up this morning eager to get moving, while at the same time wanting to sleep just a little longer. Thankfully, it wasn't nearly as cold as the previous morning. As I lay there contemplating whether to get up, I heard Pudding drop my food bag in front of my tent. Greg's and my food bags had been hanging from a tree overnight using Pudding's paracord. That saved me from having to walk over and retrieve it, so I could immediately start making coffee and breakfast. We had camped on the Blue Line (Old CDT Trail) with only 10 miles of easy hiking between us and the highway. We moved quickly through the forest and reached the road by 10:30 a.m. A trail angel named Sheriff picked us up at 11:00, right on schedule, and drove us into Dubois. Once in town, we immediately started replenishing calories with pizza, ice cream, and coffee. After 10 consecutive days of hiking, I was incredibly happy to finally be back in town. I booked a room at the Stagecoach Inn, took a much-needed shower, did my laundry, and spent some time simply relaxing. As luck would have it, we arrived on the second Saturday of the month, which is when Dubois holds its Buffalo BBQ. Not a bad way to end a 10-day stretch on the trail.
