CDT - Day 111 - Island Park/Macks Inn

Last night, we camped about three miles from Island Park in a popular dispersed camping area. I heard cars driving by throughout the night and was worried they would keep me awake, but I somehow managed to sleep pretty well.

The walk into town was quick and easy, giving us plenty of time to grab a good breakfast, resupply, charge our electronics, and hang our tents and clothes out to dry. Greg also picked up a new pair of shoes that he had shipped to a local trail angel named Nate.

While at the grocery store, we ran into Pudding, who had also shipped a new pair of shoes to Nate. Unfortunately, he still needed more time off to recover from his shin and foot issues. We might see him again farther up the trail, but for now, it was another farewell.

We didn't have enough time for showers or laundry, so we headed back to the trail. The rest of the day consisted of a 10-mile road walk with nearly 3,000 feet of elevation gain. It wasn't particularly steep, but it was a relentless climb that continued until we finally reached an actual trail.

Shortly after entering the national forest, we found a campsite and set up our tents just before the rain started. Perfect timing.
