CDT - Day 115 - Lima, Montana
Last night, we camped about four miles from the trailhead near I-15. Any closer to the highway and we would have been on private land. We probably could have made it to Lima yesterday, but we would have arrived pretty late, so camping one more night made more sense.
This morning, we reached the highway and called the Beaverhead Inn for a ride. They picked us up within 20 minutes, and we were in Lima by 9:30 a.m. Once we arrived, we got a quick tour of the very tiny town.
I booked a room with two beds so Greg and I could share. He had been planning to sleep in the park, but that seemed silly when I could easily get a room for both of us. The motel is incredibly hiker-friendly, with a hiker box and even laundry service.
While walking around town, I got a message from Pudding. Before I even had a chance to look at my phone, I spotted him sitting on a bench. He had just arrived in town too, which was a very pleasant surprise.
The three of us ended up spending the entire day together. We went swimming at the free public pool and then grabbed burgers and pizza at Peat's Steakhouse. It was wonderful having the three of us back together again.
Even better, Pudding is joining us for the next section. Tomorrow morning, the three of us will take the Beaverhead Inn shuttle back to the same trailhead where we were picked up and start the roughly 100-mile stretch ahead.
