CDT - Day 124 - Pioneer Creek
I slept absolutely wonderfully last night. No soreness or any other weird issues. I woke up at 6:00 a.m., and it was still very dark outside, which made finding our bear hang a little tricky. Even with our headlamps on, Greg and I fumbled our way through the darkness from our tents to the pole where we'd hung our food bags. Eventually, we found them and got started with breakfast and packing up.
The weather started off perfect for hiking and stayed that way for most of the day. We had about five minutes of pea-sized hail while we were resting, but it wasn't even enough to bother us.
Thankfully, all of the big climbs came early today, and the final seven miles to camp were a nice downhill descent. About a mile from camp, I noticed I had one bar of cell service and was able to call Kimberly and talk for a few minutes while waiting for Greg to catch up.
We set up camp near Pioneer Creek, next to a very sturdy and nice-smelling bridge. I love sleeping next to rivers and creeks. The natural white noise always helps me drift off to sleep.
Though I'm sure my tent will be filled with condensation in the morning.
Oh well.
