Chris' Adventures

CDT - Day 138 - Leaving Helena

Helena is definitely my favorite trail town in Montana so far, and I really wish I could have stayed another day or two.

From the moment we arrived yesterday, we kept meeting people who were excited to hear about our adventures. Pudding even got a free beer from one of the local bar owners. A trail angel named Bubbles randomly offered to drive us around town, and while we were at breakfast, we met another trail angel named Dinno. Dinno drove Greg around yesterday, and then today he gave us a ride back to the trailhead.

The hiking today was mostly along forest roads winding through private land. We took a couple of shortcuts and alternates to save some miles and give ourselves easier access to water. Water is a little scarce throughout this next section, so we're planning our route around the more reliable sources.

Tomorrow, we're planning to take another alternate for one very important reason:

There's an alpaca farm.

Obviously, we have to go.
