CDT - Day 140 - Snow and Wind

It's funny how some days you can just tell that the hiking conditions are miserable and everyone simply wants to get to town. Today was one of those days.

It was windy and cold all day long. At one point, it even started snowing while we were collecting water from a spring. The three of us hiked mostly in silence for the entire 24 miles, just paying attention to the trail, putting one foot in front of the other, and trying to stay warm.

The final couple of miles were especially crazy. We climbed onto a ridge and were greeted by winds that had to be around 50 mph. I had picked out a campsite mentioned in FarOut that was tucked behind some trees along the ridge, and thankfully it worked out perfectly.

Hidden behind the trees, our tents were mostly protected from the wind. After 24 miles of cold, wind, and snow, that little patch of shelter felt pretty luxurious.

Tomorrow, we only have about five miles to hike down to the highway, where we'll hitch into Lincoln, Montana.

Town is going to feel really good.
