CDT - Day 141 - Rogers Pass to Lincoln
The sunrise from the top of the ridge where we camped was beautiful this morning. I was a little surprised by how much condensation had built up inside my tent, especially with all the wind we had overnight.
The hike down to Rogers Pass was quick and easy, just five miles of cruisy downhill. On the way down, I learned that Rogers Pass holds the record for the coldest temperature ever recorded in the Lower 48: -70°F back in 1954. After how cold it felt up on that ridge yesterday, that somehow seemed appropriate.
Once we reached the highway, we managed to get a hitch into Lincoln after only a few minutes. We grabbed lunch, bought groceries for the next section, and found a motel for the night.
Five easy miles followed by food, resupply, and a warm motel room. Exactly the kind of day my legs needed.
