CDT - Day 147 - Slow Miles
It was freezing cold once again this morning, with frost covering the outside of our tents. I slept a little longer than usual to give Greg some extra time to rest. Eventually, I got up and retrieved our food bags from a nearby tree.
Around 7:15, we hit the trail again. It was going to be a slower day with Greg still feeling under the weather, but I set a goal of at least 25 miles to reach the junction where we'd cross over to the northern section of the Spotted Bear Alternate.
Only 11.11 miles into the hike, I came across fresh grizzly tracks in the mud. I was quite a ways ahead of Pudding and Greg, so I decided it would probably be a good idea to stop and wait for them. Hiking together suddenly seemed like the better option.
For the rest of the day, right up until we reached our campsite, we continued seeing fresh grizzly tracks in the mud.
Something tells me we'll be doing an extra-thorough job of hanging our food tonight.
