CDT - Day 149 - Autumn
It's officially fall now, and I'm counting down the days until I reach the Canadian border. A lot of people have been asking when I'll be finished, and as of right now, it looks like I'll reach the border on September 30th.
My goal has always been to finish before October, so I'm definitely cutting it close. I've been extremely lucky with the weather so far, and hopefully that luck holds for one more week.
Today's hike was a very easy 19.92 miles, and we arrived at camp before 6:00 p.m. We could have pushed farther, but the campsite we'd picked out was just too good to pass up. It doesn't have the most spectacular views, but there's plenty of flat, cleared space beneath the cover of trees. Greg still isn't feeling 100%, so taking it easy today was probably a good decision anyway.
Tomorrow should be an easy 19.6 miles to a designated campground near Montana Highway 2. Then the following day will be an even easier 15 miles into East Glacier Park Village.
After more than five months of hiking, I'm down to counting individual days.
I'm getting excited about this adventure coming to an end.
And honestly, a little nervous too.
