CDT - Day 150 - Gila River 2.0
The Continental Divide Trail is well known as the "choose your own adventure" trail. For much of the last 115 miles, we've been taking alternates and shortcuts, and today was no exception.
Based on recommendations in the FarOut comments, we decided to take the unofficial Two Medicine Alternate to bypass a particularly bad section of blowdowns. The caveat was that the alternate involved quite a few water crossings.
It felt like I was back in the Gila River section all over again. After at least 10 crossings, my shoes and socks were completely drenched. We gave up trying to rock-hop after the third or fourth crossing and just started walking straight through the water.
Honestly, it was kind of refreshing, and the water wasn't even that cold.
By 5:00 p.m., we made it to Summit Campground right next to Montana Highway 2. Tomorrow will be a quick 15-mile hike into East Glacier Park Village.
And for anyone curious, country gravy plus Yakisoba ramen is absolutely delicious. 🤤
