CDT - Day 16 - Snow Lake to Extreme Winds

This morning I said goodbye to Randy and Upright, as they were headed to Reserve, and were planning a much more relaxed pace for the day. I had met them on the previous day and it was great hiking with them all day. MK had already left by the time I got up, and a couple other hikers did the same. It's been nice to finally start making new friends on the trail. I hope I see more of them as the days, weeks and months of hiking progress.

The hike out of Snow Lake started off okay, winding through a canyon, then opening to rolling fields, and steep climbs. Eventually I reached the windy section and had non stop gale force winds until camp. This is one of those those days that describes the brutality of the CDT perfectly. I was seriously queationing my sanity during the 21 mile hike today.

Someone on FarOut posted the GPS coordinates of a campsite shielded from the wind, and I used Gaia to guide me there. The campsite was fantastic, I met another hiker named Angler about mile from the site and he was happy to join me out of the wind.
