CDT - Day 27 - Mt Taylor
This morning I had one more big breakfast at Denny's before heading out. I opted for an Uber to get me to the trailhead this morning. The highway walking is a bit sketchy, especially the bridge over the train tracks that has no shoulder to walk on.
The driver took me straight to the CDT trailhead and immediately hit the trail. The hike was immediately uphill for the next 15 miles. At about mile ten PuffPuff and MLB caught up to me at the junction for the purple line alternate. The purple line adds an additional 2000 feet of elevation gain and goes up to the summit of Mt Taylor. The three of us hiked another miles uphill and made it to the summit, where the wind was insane, and it was bitterly cold. We set up camp about 30 feet from the summit under the cover of some trees. The tress provided plenty of protection from the wind. After setting up our tents we walked up to the summit again to watch the beautiful sunset.
