CDT - Day 33 - Green Line

We woke up around 5am in the San Pedro Wilderness area. Some time around 11pm last night, and early this morning we heard the sound of what I could only assume was an Elk. It made the strangest sound that echoed through the canyon. Puff Puff, Guardian and myself packed away out tents and hit the trail early

The hike started off beautiful taking us down the mountain and out into a more desert like area, before going steeply up another mountain. The climb up was intense and sun exposed, with sporadic clouds to help cool us down. We stopped at the summit, had some lunch, and then went down into another canyon. The hike down was steep, and worth it. In the lower canyon was a small creek with flowing water where we refilled our water bottles.

After we exited the canyon we were back out into the open desert, and hiked a few miles to the Rio Chama River for one last water refill, before heading to the dispersed camping area on the green line.

The goal for tomorrow is to hike 8 miles to Ghost Ranch, pickup out resupply boxes, meet a few friends, and then continue north.
