CDT - Day 4

Woke up 6, out on trail by 7. Both batteries dead. Need to hoke 24 miles today to make it to Lordsburg. Slowburn passed me while I was getting ready . Wind died down overnight, woke up to clear skies, and a pleasant 50°F morning. Off to a great start. Coyotes howling in the night. Ran into Steve, Slowburn and Second Breakfast at mile 3.20, we talked for a bit while we filtered our water. I walked with Slowburn for a while, but as his named implied he was very slow.

It was mostly flat fast walking for the next 8 miles. Found a very nice shade tree at mile 9.9 for a break.

Met a couple of o hikers while hanging out under a tree at mile 12.3, and caught up to them again around mile 15.5.

Met a hiker named MK at mile 16.39 hanging out under a tree. We spoke for a few minutes and then I was off again.

Met a couple more hikers (Rachael and Cooper) at mile 20.15 at a water cache. They started the day before me.

I underestimated the total mileage required to make it to Lordsburg, it was 27 miles instead of 24. I made it into town and stopped at the pizza place only to find out they're closed Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I was hungry so I grabbed 5 tacos from the taco truck in front of the hotel.

After dinner and a nice shower I noticed rucksack rashes on my shoulders. This was going to be a problem I would need to deal. I spoke with a couple of friends to brainstorm some treatments and long term prevention. The next morning I would need to get supplies and try to rig something on my pack to prevent further damage to my skin.
