CDT - Day 41 - Into the San Juans
After three nights in Chama, I was ready to start hiking again. Tumbleweed (from Tumble On Outfitters) picked me up at 9:00 a.m. in front of my hotel and drove me to Cumbres Pass. I hiked about 7.6 miles and crossed my first snowfield of the trip. At mile 11.34, and an elevation of 12,180 feet, I officially entered the San Juan Wilderness. At the 15-mile mark, I met up with Pacman and Jammin, and we camped near a small lake. It was an easy day of hiking, and it felt good to be sleeping in the wilderness again.
