CDT - Day 45 - Pagosa Springs

Last night was my final night in the Southern San Juans, and I was looking forward to an easier day of hiking with less snow.

This was the easiest day of hiking in the Cumbres Pass-to-Wolf Creek section. There was still a bit of snow and a few small sketchy traverses, but compared to the last two days, it felt like a walk in the park.

Puff sent me a message recommending that I bail out just before the warming hut, and I took her advice. The last few miles beyond the warming hut would have been an annoying mess of downed trees and slow hiking. I met several other hikers who had bailed out at the same spot.

I bushwhacked to a forest road and walked to the highway. From there, I managed to get a hitch to Pagosa Springs with another hiker.

Once I reached Pagosa Springs, I checked into my hotel, took a shower, did some laundry, and ate a giant burger.
