Chris' Adventures

CDT - Day 6

I woke up at 6am, and hit the trail at 7:30, a little later than I would have liked. I'm going to have to start getting going as soon as I wake up. I'm getting more efficient at taking my tent down and packing up, but taping up my shoulders and hips and applying zinc oxide is taking up valuable time. I'll probably get faster at that.

The day started off sunny, but the clouds rolled in with a nice cool breeze. This made for a wonderful start to the day and I felt like I could hike forever.

The scenery has started to change and I found myself in an area reminiscent of Prescott and Cottonwood, there were a lot of trees, and plenty of shade. Unfortunately was still scarce, but the waypoints and comments in FarOut eased my concerns, I still carried a lot of water which was beginning to take a toll on my back. When I get to Silver City I'm going to be shedding some serious weight from this pack.

I heard a bunch of gun shots at mile 9.4.

At mile 10.79 I found another trailhead, with more water from a trail angel named BB. I filled up one of my Cnocs, and added a little bit to my Smart bottle for electrolytes.

After walking through the forest for a while I took another break 15.49. I only had one liter of water left, but there was another water cache about 3 miles up.

I didn't see any other hikers all day, it was pretty quiet and peaceful. The clouds went away in the afternoon and the sun started to feel warm, but not enough for me to use my umbrella.

Found a campsite at mile 19.34 around 7pm. About a quarter mile back was a fantastic trail magic spot, with lots of water, juices, sodas, snacks, and supplies. I downed a Propel Lemonade in practically one gulp.
