CDT - Day 73 - Zero Day in Grand Lake

I decided to take a zero in Grand Lake after all, the vortex is real. That meant that Mesa Man, Airbud and Got it were now a day ahead of me. As is the case with the entire CDT adventure we all hike our own hikes, new friends come and go. I was surprised to run into Pudding while I was having lunch today. He's one of my favorite trail friends, that I had met a couple of weeks ago. We chatted for a bit, and then it started downpouring, so he took off. His plan is to stay in town for a few more days, while he hangs out with his wife.

The zero day gave me a chance to do my chores, laundry, resupply, and plans without feeling rushed. It also gave me a chance to eat way too much food and replenish my calories. At the end of the day I started feeling like I needed to get out of town. As much as I enjoyed my stay here, it was far too touristy, and I really didn't feel like I fit in here.

Will I ever fit in anywhere after the CDT? I'll need to spend some free time in the next few towns planning my future. For now the trail is calling me, I just need to sleep in the woods again. Maybe I'll finally see a moose tomorrow.
