CDT - Day 75 - Parkview Mountain and Troublesome Pass
Today was a tough one. I climbed Parkview Mountain under a blazing sun without a single cloud in the sky. Thankfully, this was the last of the really big climbs on the CDT. From here on out, there won't be any more peaks over 12,000 feet. There wasn't any wind at the summit, but there were plenty of annoying flies. I didn't stay long before continuing on. I met several day hikers throughout the day, but I didn't see a single CDT hiker. My original campsite turned out to be right in the middle of a major burn scar, so I decided to keep hiking. That meant another two miles before finally setting up camp at Troublesome Pass. Water also became much more scarce after Parkview Mountain, so I had to be a little more strategic about where I refilled. After weeks of listening mostly to music, I switched back to audiobooks. These long days on the trail have reignited my fascination with how the mind works. I spent the entire day listening to Being You by Anil Seth. It was a profoundly interesting book, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who wants to take a deep dive into the science of consciousness. By the end of the day, I had hiked 22.7 miles, climbed 5,745 feet, and learned a little more about how the brain works.
