CDT - Day 9
Day 9 was my first planned zero day. I slept in a little bit, and Susie (the trail angel I stayed with) cooked me up amazing breakfast of scrambled eggs and French toast. After breakfast she drove to town where I spent a few hours walking around, getting coffee and finding some lunch. I had hoped to buy some supplies at the local hiker supply shops, but like most shops in Silver City on Sunday, they were closed. I also learned that my first package that I ordered and shipped it the post office failed to deliver, probably my fault for not putting C/O General in the address field. Putting that in the shipping notes did not work. Luckily it wasn't a big deal, I can buy the supplies on Monday instead.
After a few hours Susie picked me and took me to Walmart where I picked up a new charger, and a few other essentials.
Susie made me a wonderful dinner of chilli and cornbread with some salad. I ate two bowls of chilli and had a brownie.
Monday will be a bit of hectic day, I'll be buying supplies and shipping them to Doc Campbell's and Pie Town. As much as I'm okay with Knort sides and ramen, I much prefer the fancy freeze dried meals. I need my veggies, flavors, and quick easy cleanup. I've decided to mail my Sony Alpha 6700, and a few other things to my mom to help shed weight. The camera was awesome, but not 3000 miles of shoulder pulling awesome. I'll be using that on my shorter hikes when I'm off the CDT, for now I'll be using my Pixel 10 Pro which is perfectly fine. Between the camera, and a few other things I'm shedding about 5 or 6 lbs. I'll also be a lot more selective about the food and not take too much. When I reached Silver City I still had an extra 3 days of food, yikes.
