CDT - Day 97 - Eating Wild Mushrooms

This morning we woke up to a spectacular view of the Cirque of the Towers from our campsite. We had camped beneath a giant tree that offered a few flat spots for our tents. Today's 25-mile hike took us through beautiful meadows, dense forests, and so many lakes that I eventually lost count. The climbing wasn't especially difficult, but it definitely wore us out by the end of the day. We also crossed several rivers, which meant hiking for most of the day with wet shoes and socks. The final crossing was knee-deep and came just before camp. Tomorrow I'll be switching to a dry pair of socks—I doubt the wet ones will dry overnight. Early in the day, we found a giant porcini mushroom. Pudding cut it open and showed us how to identify it. He's planning to chop it up and cook it with gravy tonight.
