CDT - Day 98 - Pinedale
This morning we woke up above one of the Cook Lakes. It was a little chilly, and once again I was under attack from mosquitoes. I got ready inside my tent as quickly as possible, and the moment I stepped outside, I sprayed myself with bug repellent. Our plan for the day was to hike to the Seneca Lake junction and then follow the side trail 11 miles to the Elkhart Park Trailhead. Once we reached the Seneca Lake Trail, we started seeing lots of day hikers and backpackers heading into the Winds for a few days. We stopped at Photographer's Point to send a message to Irish, who had agreed to pick us up at the trailhead and drive us into town. After 14.46 miles of hiking, we reached the Elkhart Park Trailhead, where Irish was waiting for us with a few ice-cold sodas. She gave us a quick tour of Pinedale before dropping us off at the Jackalope Motor Lodge. Pudding and I booked a bunk room for just $40 per person, which included free laundry and a private bathroom. The room had eight beds, and we ended up having the whole place to ourselves.
