Granite Basin Hike - Prescott AZ - 2/22/2026
On Sunday I met up with a new group of friends to hike the Granite Basin Area in Prescott Arizona. This hike was described as long, fast and moderately difficult. When I arrived at the trailhead the outside temperature was in the low 30s. As the sun came out it quickly warmed up, and we shed as many layers as possible. For the majority of the hike the temperature was in the 60s, and we had plenty of shade in the trees. The ground was covered in snow, mud, and a little of ice. The plan was for about 11 miles, and about 1500 feet of elevation gain. We ended up missing a few turns, and had to backtrack a bit. The total mileage ended up being 14.1 miles with about 2192 feet of elevation gain. Overall this was another excellent hike in Prescott.
