Horton Creek - Arizona
Over the weekend Kimberly and I drove up to Payson to backpack to Horton Creek. It was one last adventure before heading back to the CDT for me. The weather was fantastic, and the water was painfully cold, we had hoped to swim, but we could barely keep our feet in the water for very long. We encountered a few groups of hikers and backpackers, and luckily we got our favorite campsite near the water. The temperature dropped quickly after sunset, so we got a nice fire going. The next morning we took our time getting ready, and made the short hike out and back to the car. The final stop was one of our favorite places in Strawberry, Pie Bar for empanadas.
