Humphreys Peak - 8/2/2025

Hey, look another post about Humphreys Peak! I had originally planned to hike up Humphreys on August 1st with my favorite hiking buddy, but something came up, and they couldn't make it. No big deal, I've hiked this solo a few times, and I'll probably hike it solo again. I arrived at the Snowbowl parking lot at 7:15 am, it was mostly empty, and the weather was perfect. The hike up was mostly uneventful, and peaceful. I did a little bot of trail running on the way up, and passed a few people. The wind was constant 28 mph so I was hunkered down behind a rock pile, next to a really nice couple. We spoke about our recent hikes, and a few mountains we were planning on hiking next. On the way down I ran into someone that informed me about a lost dog on the trail. I stopped periodically to look for the dog. Eventually I ran into to the owners of the dog, and they had found him. I think the dog's name was Dorigo. I think for my next hike I'd like to start at 3 am and try to catch the sunrise from the top. Who wants to join me for that? My plan would be to sleep in my car at the trailhead parking lot.

Nice view of Agassiz Peak, which is off limits during summer.

My favorite rock to sit on at the saddle, and enjoy a PB&J before making the final push up the ridge.

This little guy was circling me probably looking for snacks.
