Humphreys Peak -7/1/2025
This morning I left my house at 5am, and made it to the Humphreys Peak Trailhead by 7am. There were a lot of cars in the Snowbowl parking lot. The hike itself was pretty easy most of the way up. I did a bit of trail running on the way up and passed about 30 people. Stopped at the saddle for a quick snack, and I noticed the wind was starting to pick up. As soon as I got above the tree line the wind picked up substantially. The wind was blowing parallel to the ridge, and pushing me from the back. I wasn't worried about my safety this time and made it to the peak where the wind was much worse. All of us on the summit were barely able to stand up. Taking pictures was a challenge. The wind speed was about 50 mph. A few of us hunkered down next to the rock piles to avoid the wind and eat more snacks. The silver lining to the wind is that there were no flies. After eating my peanut butter and jelly sandwich I made my way down off the mountain. At the saddle I removed my layers, and then did some trail running all the way down, and back to the trailhead. I spoke to one of the rangers at the trailhead, and they updated the weather status based on my readings. Overall it was another great summit, and I can't wait to go again next weekend.
I could barely stand up here while a kind stranger took my picture.
Wow!
The new RSe10 wheels look so great on my car. This car is a blast to drive up Snowbowl road.
Stopped at my favorite burger place, Diablo Burger. They were very busy but always worth the wait.
And of course you have to get crêpes after the burger. The Oldtown Creperie shop is next door to Diablo Burger. They already know my name there, and ask about my hiking adventures. 😃
