Mount Wilson via First Creek Trail - 11/10/2025
I spent the weekend in Las Vegas for a few bowling tournaments. While in Vegas I wanted to spend some time outdoors and find a good trail to hike. After looking through the hikes in AllTrails I found Mount Wilson, which looked like a fun challenge. Wow, I was not prepared for how difficult this hike would be. I've done a lot of hiking this year, and this was one of the few trails that I was not able to finish. The hike started off with an easy mile into the canyon. Once I got to the canyon I realized this would not be easy. The trail quickly disappeared, and I had to constantly do route finding. The map on AllTrails was not help at all. I kept hitting dead ends, and very difficult vertical climbs. I know that I could have made it up, but I wasn't comfortable attempting this by myself. I'd like to come back again, and bring a strong hiking buddy, and complete this challenge. There was plenty of water, and overall the hike into the canyon was great. There was also plenty of shade, and the sun was behind the canyon walls. On the way out I ended up running about a mile back to the car.
